Once an industrial district, Tribeca has become the trendy hotspot for celebrities!  Hollywood stars make it a point to enjoy some of Tribeca's more famous eateries, unique shops and boutiques.

The now famous Tribeca Film Festival--an experiment for the film industry--was started here less than five years ago to rave reviews. Now, the 2004 Film Festival rivals Cannes and Sundance.

Tribeca is also home to the Tribeca Performing Arts Center since 1983.  It produces and presents performances and serves as rehearsal space to all manner of professional and amateur groups.
