A lovely private square, in the London fashion, Gramercy is New York's most important private park, surrounded by elegant town homes. On this tour you will be privileged to visit two private clubs, both registered National Historic Landmarks. |
One of these clubs was founded in 1888 as a club for actors, writers and performing artists, and was designed by the famous Stanford White. Visit the three floors of this stately townhouse, as the curator of the Club discusses its private collection of paintings, photographs and theatrical memorabilia. |
The other club was founded by a group of distinguished patrons of the arts--collectors such as Henry Frick and J. Pierpont Morgan. Formerly the home of New York Governor Tilden, the facade of the Mansion is in high Victorian Gothic style. |
You will be greeted by the club President who will speak with you about the rich history of the building and the Club. You'll get an insider's glimpse, behind the silver screen, as he talks about the filming of Martin Scorsese's AGE OF INNOCENCE, at the National Arts Club |
Luncheon or a cocktail reception can be arranged in the elegant Member's Dining Room--45 people maximum.. |
